We are seeking an experienced Staff Captain to join our cruise fleet.


Key Responsibilities:

·Understudying the Master and ensuring familiarity with all aspects of the Masters role, vessel navigation and operation.
·Ensuring that Deck Officers and Crew are familiar with the Company's Management System.
·Motivating the Deck Officers and Crew in executing their duties according to the Company's Management System.
·Leading the development and provision of the Deck Department risk assessments;
·As Chairman of the Health Safety and Environment & Energy (HSE) Committee, ensuring that a robust Safety & Health culture and Environmental & Energy awareness is encouraged and maintained;
·Ensuring that activities are well planned, organized and safeguards established against all identified risks;
·For planning and monitoring potable water hygiene, consumption, production and bunkering;
·Overseeing the safe and hygienic operation of the vessels Recreational Water Facilities as per the Water Safety Plan;
·Ensuring organisation and stowage of spares and consumables, and compliance with stock control requirements;
·Planning and executing the safe loading of the vessel with respect to Load Line, Stress, Stability, and any other operational limitations, for all stages of the voyage;
·Working closely with the Deck and the Engineering Departments to achieve the safe loading of the vessel with regard to bunkers, fresh water, ballast, and waste water management;
·The cleaning, maintenance and painting routines for external areas of the vessel as well as Deck Department designated store rooms and technical spaces;
·Preventive maintenance and proper handling of deck machinery. He shall work closely with the Chief Engineer in this respect;
·Providing the Master with a positive report prior to each departure, that the vessel is ready to proceed to sea, compliant with the Stability Information Booklet, Load Line and any other certificated operational limitations;
·Ensuring close liaison and cooperation with all department heads to facilitate smooth and efficient vessel operations;
·Organising the vessels Integrated Pest Management, and monitoring its effectiveness.
·Issuing appropriate orders and instructions in a clear and simple manner and that specified requirements are observed;
·Ensuring that corrective and preventive actions are implemented timely and effectively;
·Reviewing the Company’s Management System on a regular basis and reporting to the Master proposals for improvement;
·Reporting directly to the Master occurrences that could either directly or indirectly lead to an adverse effect on Quality, Safety, Health, Environment & Energy, Security, or operational capability or reliability;
·Maintaining on board discipline, ensuring crew compliance with the Code of Conduct and assisting the Master with all associated disciplinary procedures;
·As the shipboard company representative of the Crew Welfare Committee, ensuring that an active and enthusiastic Crew Welfare Committee is established and encouraged.
·Recording properly in the Deck Environmental Seals Log Book (D-ESLB) all environmental seals used outside the Engine Room and Technical Spaces;
·Ensuring that all blank flanges and potentially removable flanges on all piping systems outside the Engine Room, that lead overboard are sealed;
· Ensuring that the handover notes include a descriptive environmental compliance component and include information related to the status, handling and discharge of any generated wastes.
