Do you have vacancies? Do you place seafarers in jobs?

Ukrcrewing.com.ua is a website that helps seafarers find work and employers find crew. We are not a crewing company and do not place seafarers in jobs.

Vacancies are posted by employers themselves. Around 200 crewing companies use UkrCrewing on a regular basis. They post vacancies and search for seafarers in the CV database.

Seafarers find work on UkrCrewing in two ways: by applying to vacancies themselves or by receiving offers from companies that found their CV in the database. That's why it's important to fill out your CV in detail, update it regularly, and apply to vacancies.

Why can't I upload my own CV to the site?

UkrCrewing uses its own CV form - the same for all seafarers. Every seafarer's own CV looks different: different formats, structure, and amount of information. If seafarers simply uploaded ready-made files, it would be harder for employers to search for seafarers and quickly compare candidates.

That's why we ask you to fill out your CV directly on the site. All data goes into the right fields, search runs on those fields, and employers see CVs in a format they're used to.

We understand that filling out a CV takes time. Especially if you have to do it on several sites. But a good job offer is surely worth it.

Can I skip the certificates and work experience sections?

If you have certificates and work experience from the last 5 years, they must be included in your CV. Of course, entry-level seafarers may not have such experience yet. In that case, fill in the information you have at the moment.

For a crew manager, these sections are among the most important. They use them to assess a seafarer's experience, qualifications, and fit for a specific vacancy. If the information is incomplete, they have to contact the candidate and clarify everything separately.

And employers have plenty to choose from. If there's a well-completed CV right next to it, it's easier to review that one first than to spend time chasing missing information. So a thoroughly completed CV is, first and foremost, in your own interest.

We also recommend filling in the "Additional Information" field. Include details that aren't covered in the main sections of your CV: additional skills, experience with specific equipment, a promotion you've received, or anything else that may matter to a crew manager.

What is CV mailing and how does it work?

CV distribution is a service through which we send your CV to employers in more than 70 countries worldwide.

The distribution is handled by our specialist, not an automated system. Before sending, they will review your CV, suggest improvements, and help you write a cover letter. You can discuss the details of the distribution with them, ask questions, and clarify anything that matters to you.

You can exclude specific companies from the distribution. If the CV used for distribution was completed on UkrCrewing, a 20% discount applies.

Does CV mailing guarantee employment?

No, that's not something anyone can guarantee. The outcome depends on many factors: demand for your position and the number of candidates for it, age, English level, required certificates and visas, experience in the position, on a specific vessel type, with a specific engine type or other equipment. And, of course, on whether the employer currently has a suitable vacancy.

If there is no suitable vacancy at the moment, the company may keep your CV in its database and contact you later when one becomes available.

CV distribution does not guarantee employment. Its purpose is to get your CV in front of more crewing companies. Ours is to help you prepare your CV and cover letter so that you present yourself to employers in the best possible way.

Who does the CV mailing - you or me?

Both options are possible.

If you order the "CV Mailing to Employers" service, we handle the distribution. Our specialist reviews your CV, helps you prepare a cover letter, agrees on the details with you, and sends your CV to the selected crewing companies.

If you prefer to do it yourself, you can purchase our database of employers from more than 70 countries. You'll receive an Excel file with the companies' contact details and can send them your CV on your own.

The advantage of this option is that the database can be used repeatedly. Many contacts stay valid for several years, since company email addresses rarely change.

How can I get a contract faster?

There's no one-size-fits-all approach, but there are several steps that improve your chances of finding work.

Keep your CV up to date

New and updated CVs move higher in the list and are also included in email alerts sent to employers.

When an employer posts a vacancy, UkrCrewing automatically selects suitable candidates and sends the employer a list. Only up-to-date CVs make it onto that list.

Crew managers say that CVs that haven't been updated in over a year attract less interest. Ideally, update your CV every 3–6 months.

Look at other seafarers in your position

Compare experience, certificates, and skills. This will help you understand what your CV may be missing and which skills are worth developing.
