ITS has begun expanding the terminal at the Port of Long Beach

International Transportation Services (ITS) has officially announced the start of a major project to expand the Port of Long Beach with the aim of improving cargo handling efficiency and increasing terminal space.

As a result, 19 acres of new land will be added to Pier G by filling in unused water slipway.

The additional space will be used to store more cargo containers and improve terminal operations. ITS also plans to build a 3,400-foot-long berth that will allow two of the world's largest container ships to dock simultaneously.

ITS said the project will use local labor and American-made materials. According to the CEO of ITS Long Beach, the goal of the project is to strengthen the national supply chain while maintaining economic and environmental benefits in the US. The company said the expansion prepares it for the future of global trade by modernizing key infrastructure right at home.

Construction is scheduled to be completed by the end of 2028. Once completed, the expanded terminal will provide ITS and the Port of Long Beach with more space, increase vessel handling capacity, and ensure a smoother and more efficient cargo flow.
