On behalf of Uniteam Marine Limited, we are looking for a Senior Fleet Personnel Manager to be based at our office in Odesa, Ukraine.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Leads, motivates, and provides direction to the Crewing and Administration teams in Ukraine, fostering a high-performance culture.
  • Ensures compliance with the Uniteam Group of Companies’ Code of Conduct and Uniteam Marine’s policies and procedures.
  • Proactively contributes to the continuous improvement of the Group’s risk management framework.
  • Implements and enforces the Fleet Personnel Function’s policies and procedures related to Crewing operations and Administration.
  • Monitors costs and promotes cost efficiency within the Fleet Personnel Function in Ukraine.
  • Optimizes the utilization of available technology, resources, and tools for efficient team performance.
  • Stays informed about relevant legislation and regulations impacting the Fleet Personnel Function and communicate them to stakeholders.
  • Executes additional duties assigned by the Fleet Personnel Director.
  • Coordinates with the Crew Managers, other relevant departments, and seafarers to resolve any issues or conflicts that arise whilst ensuring a positive work environment for seafarers.
  • Facilitates regular engagement opportunities between internal and global team members, promoting collaboration and knowledge sharing.
  • Act as a point of contact for Crew Managers, providing advice and support for operational and client-related matters.
  • Reviews seafarer fitness reports and proposes candidates for promotion or take necessary actions.
  • Conducts constant analysis relating to retention data in order to ensure that retention is at or above the function KPI baseline.  Develop and implement initiatives and programs aimed at improving seafarer retention rates, job satisfaction, and overall employee engagement.  
  • Conducts regular surveys and feedback sessions to assess seafarers’ needs, concerns, and suggestions, and take appropriate actions based on the feedback received.
  • Collaborates with the Crew Managers and Training department to identify potential candidates for promotion, and provide career development opportunities for Ukrainian seafarers, including training programs, certifications, and skill enhancement initiatives.
  • Stays informed about industry best practices and trends related to seafarer retention and implement relevant initiatives to enhance retention rates. Collaborate with local Crew Managers to identify timely and accurate recruitment needs.
  • Facilitates the recruitment and selection process for Ukrainian Seafarers, ensuring adherence to approved criteria and requirements.
  • Develops and maintains strong relationships with maritime training institutions, recruitment agencies, and other relevant industry stakeholders to ensure a consistent pipeline of qualified candidates.
  • Utilizes various recruitment channels, including online job portals, social media platforms, and industry-specific networks, to attract a diverse pool of qualified Ukrainian seafarers.
  • Screens and evaluates candidate applications, conducting initial interviews and assessments to assess their suitability for the position.
  • Coordinates and conducts pre-employment checks, including verifying qualifications, certifications, and references, to ensure compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborates with the Crew Managers and relevant internal stakeholders to determine crewing requirements and create accurate job descriptions and vacancy announcements.
  • Develops and implement effective recruitment strategies and campaigns to attract experienced and skilled Ukrainian seafarers.
  • Stays up to date with industry trends and changes in regulations related to seafarer recruitment, ensuring compliance with all applicable standards.
  • Provides regular reports and updates on recruitment activities, including metrics such as candidate pipelines, time-to-hire, and recruitment costs, to management.
  • Participates in industry events, job fairs, and networking opportunities to promote the company’s recruitment efforts and build relationships with potential candidates.

 


 

Job Requirements:

  • Maritime studies or other equivalent studies or 5 years of seagoing service as a Senior Officer.
  • A minimum of 5 years relevant managerial experience in a manning operation.
  • Hands-on experience with applicant tracking and databases
  • Experience with (phone and in-person) interviews, candidate screening, and evaluation.
  • Expertise with social media and other professional networks.
  • High-level knowledge of Maritime rules and regulations.  
  • Excellent command of spoken and written English.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (e.g. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
