JOB DESCRIPTION – 2nd Electrician Engineer
The 2nd Electrician Engineer is responsible for assisting in the maintenance and operation of the ship’s electrical systems. This role involves ensuring the reliability and functionality of all electrical equipment onboard, including power generation, distribution systems, and electronic components.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Key Responsibilities:
Assist the Chief Electrician Engineer in managing the maintenance, repair, and operation of all electrical machinery and instrumentation on the vessel.
Perform troubleshooting and repairs on electrical issues involving switchboards, motor controllers, and other electrical equipment.
Ensure regular inspections and maintenance of electrical systems to prevent failures and ensure compliance with safety standards.
Collaborate with the engineering team to ensure electrical systems interface properly with mechanical systems.
Maintain logs and records of electrical operations and maintenance activities.
Participate in safety drills and emergency response activities as required.
Qualifications:
Holder of a valid Electro-Technical Officer Certificate or equivalent technical certification.
Proven experience as an electrician or electrical engineer on board ships.
Comprehensive understanding of maritime electrical systems and high-voltage equipment.
Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently.
Effective communication skills and proficiency in English.
