The Third Officer (Deck) is responsible for:

The Third Officer (Deck) is a Bridge Watch Keeper as required by the Bridge Operations Manual and Bridge Resource Management (BRM);
The Third Officer (Deck) is responsible for the following work areas:

o Assisting in the management and training of deck crew;
o Assisting with the running of the deck maintenance programmes and deck crew;
o Tank work and inspections;
o Monitoring the Ballast Water Log;
o Assisting with deck Inventory management and PMS maintenance;
o Assisting with inspections and reporting of non-LSA lifting appliances, davits and cranes;
o Assisting with the vessels crack register;
o Assisting with the maintenance of Deck Department Chemical inventory list and the Deck Department Hazmat Familiarisation & training.
